Common Reseller/Dealer Questions

Jump to an answer:

Why should I register?

There are no obligations when you register. Registering to be a reseller is only a matter of providing your contact information and company name on a short online form so we can quickly comfirm your reseller intentions. The online registration form just allows us to filter reseller prices away from website users that are not resellers, and allows resellers (exporters, service facilities, dealerships, etc.) to view discounted reseller prices and tools.

How And When Do I See My Reseller Prices?

Once you submit the short online registration form, we will confirm and allow resellers (exporters, service facilities, dealerships, etc.) to view discounted reseller prices and tools. We typically process registrations immediately, and this will allow you to see your reseller prices on our product pages while you are logged in. Please excuse us if it takes up to 24 hours to complete your registration. A confirmation e-mail will be sent to you, so you will know when your registration has unlocked your access to the reseller prices and tools.

How do I confirm the circuit board is bad?

This is an important step to perform prior to sending your circuit board to us for repair. Please keep in mind, we do not operate like a lot of other circuit board repair companies that actually look forward to receiving "bad" circuit boards that are actually fully operational (so they can charge you for their standard repair service even though they didn't do any work). The last thing you want to do is send your circuit board away for repair, and still have the same problem when you re-install the "repaired" circuit board.

Before you remove the circuit board from your equipment, we offer support with your diagnosis. We do not want you to waste your time or money due to a misleading failure mode or symptom.

If you are a technician, we can help you navigate through schematics or offer point-to-point measurements to help you quickly isolate the issue.

If you are not a technician, then we certainly recommend that you schedule one to perform your diagnosis. However, if you are a savvy owner with a voltmeter and determined to operate at your own risk with or without us, we can help you stay on a functional troubleshooting path with live telephone support, and help you isolate the issue.

No charges apply to this service... this level of service is simply how we operate in effort to support our customers, dealers, and the power generation industry as a whole.

For additional information, please e-mail us at service@generatorpanels.com, or call us at 618-997-9015.

Do you have any schematics to help me troubleshoot?

Yes, we have schematics, but we do not distribute them freely to everyone that asks for them. If you need a schematic from us, please contact us so we can first verify the purpose and need. We apologize for this small piece of "red tape", and we hope you understand why we must maintain this position. For additional information, please e-mail us at service@generatorpanels.com, or call us at 618-997-9015.

How do I package the circuit board for shipment?

Ideally, you should package your faulty circuit board(s) in the same fashion you would package a brand new circuit board, but we know this isn't possible for everyone in every case. Please do whatever you can to prevent parts from getting physically broken or bent. Even though it will be pristine when you get it back from us, it doesn't matter how creative or how ugly your packaging is when you send the board to us... it is only the protective functionality of the packaging that is important for incoming circuit boards.

Resellers are entitled to free return-shipping boxes from Colburn Electronic Controls. For additional information, please e-mail us at service@generatorpanels.com, or call us at 618-997-9015.

Do I need to use any certain shipping company or method?

No, the choice is yours. We can receive shipments of any size from any major courier or carrier. We will automatically select the most economical and reliable shipping company to deliver your circuit boards back to you and meet your schedule, which varies dependent on your location. However, if you want us to use a specific company, we will gladly do so. We do not charge any handling fees, and we only charge the actual shipping cost (at our cost). We can support any incoming or outgoing delivery service, ranging from standard postal mail to emergency Next Flight Out services (domestic or International).

We can schedule your package pick-up from your facility, office or home... this is just another complimentary "no-charge" service we provide to support our customers, dealers, and the power generation industry as a whole. The standard shipping cost will apply, and some carriers (like DHL) charge a pick-up fee. For additional information or assistance, please e-mail us at service@generatorpanels.com, or call us at 618-997-9015.

Do I need to insure the shipment?

Circuit board shipments can be insured for a minimal cost. Incoming defective circuit boards are only worth a "core fee" value when they are shipped defective, and therefore the declared value will be minimal. We will always insure refurbished circuit boards that we ship to you, and the declared value is the refurbishment cost. Again, the cost to insure is very minimal. For additional information or assistance with determining values to declare, please e-mail us at service@generatorpanels.com, or call us at 618-997-9015.

Can you drop-ship a repaired board to my customer?

Yes, as long as a delivery service exists in the particular location we can arrange to drop-ship your circuit board anywhere in the world in compliance with US law, land or sea. No additional fees apply, and we will manage the accompanying or separated paperwork to meet your needs. Please indicate your desire to drop-ship applicable orders and include the shipping detail by e-mail to service@generatorpanels.com, or call us at 618-997-9015.

Can you repair my circuit board?

Since you found our website, there is a good chance your circuit board is listed amongst our commonly repaired circuit boards. If not, that is okay, Colburn Electronic Controls successfully repairs various brands of circuit boards that are used within various manufacturers' control panels. We most likely already have a test machine that we designed to exercise and validate your control board. We are constantly expanding the variety of brands and part numbers that we service, but if we do not currently repair your model, we will design the necessary equipment immediately at no cost to you. In these rare cases, we will need approximately a week to build the test equipment and repair your control board that is "new" to us. From that point forward, no problem, we will promote a 24 hour turn-around from the time we receive that same model or series control board.

Upon request, and dependent on our schedule's demand, we have repaired many circuit boards used in other applications and types of equipment, such as engine controls, HVAC controls, refrigeration controls, load banks and technician test & diagnostic tools. For additional information, please e-mail us at service@generatorpanels.com, or call us at 618-997-9015.

How long will it take to repair my circuit board?

The majority of circuit boards we receive are repaired, tested and burned-in (exercised and validated) on the same day we receive the board, and they are shipped the following morning. In rare cases, we can not meet our 24-hour-turn-around goal. You can call us about your specific control board, and we can confirm the likelihood of same-day repair. You can also count on receiving a phone call from us as soon as we receive your circuit board, and we will be able to give you a confirmation of when we expect the board to ship back to you (due to very rare situations where we are out of stock of a particular part, we want to keep you informed).

Since our turn-around is so fast, the most significant lead time factor is the method of shipment you elect. Please view our UPS Ground Map to confirm how quickly your State will receive your circuit board back from us... many states are only 1 or 2 days away from us when using the relatively inexpensive UPS Ground service. However, if you are in California, for example, even though we will most likely repair your control board the same day we receive it, please notice your total turn-around time can be 9 days if you choose to use UPS Ground freight for both directions.

Even though the majority of our domestic customers favor UPS, in most cases aside from holidays we see USPS (United States Postal Service) Priority Mail is actually the fastest and most economical shipping method nationwide, and it still provides a shipment tracking number.

For more clarification relating to your area's uniquely fast and economical shipping options, please e-mail us at service@generatorpanels.com, or call us at 618-997-9015.

Do I get a discount when I send multiple boards?

Yes, quantity discounts are available even if you are not a dealer. As we repair and test more than one board at a time for your order, it saves us time and cost, and therefore we pass the cost savings on to you. We believe this is the right way to do business, and it is just another case of us abiding by our philosophy and truly supporting our customers, dealers, and the power generation industry as a whole. For more information regarding quantity discounts, please e-mail us at service@generatorpanels.com, or call us at 618-997-9015.

Are there any charges added to the prices shown?

No, the refurbishment prices indicated on our website include the complete refurbishment of your circuit board... parts, the complete repair, calibration, and testing services. Shipping charges are additional, but you can count on us passing on our actual shipping cost as quoted by the carrier. Please notice the prices shown are your cost for us to refurbish your circuit board. Meaning, if you order a stock circuit board from us and you do not send us your faulty circuit board, a core charge will apply. If you plan to order a circuit board and you can not send us your faulty circuit board, please e-mail us at service@generatorpanels.com, or call us at 618-997-9015 to confirm the core charge amount.

Will my circuit board repair come with a warranty?

Of course! As you know, companies offer warranties when they know the odds are in their favor, and the item will most likely perform as intended throughout the warranty period they offer (due to internal practices and efforts). However, abiding by our philosophy and conveying our true passion in what we do, we take this common business practice to the next level. Keeping in mind we did not design or manufacture your circuit board, you can still rest assured we issue a written warranty for every circuit board we refurbish. In addition to standing behind our refurbishment parts and workmanship with our standard Limited Warranty, we also offer optional Extended Warranties that help bridge the gap between your manufacturer's warranty and real-world situations such as lightning strikes, moisture damage, static electricity, accidental short circuits, and more.

Please keep in mind, we are giving you a general description of our warranties for the sake of this FAQ section, but we do not want you to think the above statements are implying coverage or remedies for any particular failure that may occur. For complete details of inclusions and exclusions, please review the terms and conditions of our standard Limited Warranty and our optional Extended Warranty.

For more information regarding our warranties, or for clarification regarding the warranty inclusions and exclusions, please e-mail us at service@generatorpanels.com, or call us at 618-997-9015.
